The end of the season is approaching and that means it’s awards time. EA Sports has begun releasing their annual Team of the Season selections and two Chelsea players and one Chelsea loanee have already been honored.
Firstly, Thibault Courtois has received a nod in the first-ever Community-voted Team of the Season. This team was voted on by users who play FIFA 18 and the player pool consisted of only players who haven’t received an in-form item yet this season. Also making an appearance is Marco van Ginkel, on loan at PSV.

More notably, EA announced their Premier League Team of the Season, but after an extraordinary six representatives last season, Cesar Azpilicueta is the only one to make it this season. Azpi, of course, should make it every season. Congrats, Dave!

His special blue item is available now and boasts increased stats such as 87 Pace and 93 Defending. Should’ve been a 99, no? Ok, 94; stay humble!
Can @CesarAzpi predict his new @EASportsFIFA #TOTS upgrade?

Meanwhile, four ex-Chelsea players have been honored as well. Mohamed Salah (duh), Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Kevin De Bruyne all get their blue cards as well.
Hopefully next season Chelsea will be back to having more players in the final eleven as that would likely mean a better campaign was had in real life as well.
