Chelsea host rampant Liverpool in a must win rivalry game this weekend. Liverpool have been in great form this year, losing only two (!) Premier League games since October and progressing to the Champions League final just a couple days ago (please be tired, thanks!). But Chelsea must collect all three points to have even the slightest chance of finishing in the top four. Anything less, and we’re all but done.
While my personal preference would be for the “NEW” 3-5-2 with Giroud and Morata (or Giroud and Hazard), chances are that Conte will return to what’s worked best over the last two years, the 3-4-3.
Things remain the same as ever in goal, and same in defense as against Swansea. As for our wing backs, I've gone with Moses and Alonso; not because I believe Emerson should lose his spot — he's done very well these past three games — but because it's highly probable that Alonso will immediately return to the team after serving his three-game suspension.
The only question after that is who plays striker, but at this point it has to be Giroud, right?
3-4-3:
Courtois | Rüdiger, Christensen, Azpilicueta | Alonso, Kante, Fabregas, Moses | Willian, Giroud, Hazard
The WAGNH community’s preferred line-up mirrors the predicted line-up in every way as the 3-4-3 narrowly wins over the new 3-5-2 (35%) once again. It's also worth noting that a fair amount of people voted for Emerson (45%) over the returning Alonso. Otherwise, same old, same old.
3-4-3 (36%):
Courtois (95%) | Rüdiger (91%), Christensen (61%), Azpilicueta (98%) | Alonso (59%), Kanté (99%), Fàbregas (64%), Moses (76%) | Hazard (97%), Giroud (78%), Willian (71%)
