Chelsea 1-1 West Ham United, Premier League: Post-match reaction

Sigh.

Chelsea dominated the game from start to finish, but were unable to make the game safe despite outshooting West Ham 5-to-1.

So of course when Chelsea-killer Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez arrived onto the scene, and scored his 9th goal against the Blues in 14 appearances to equalize, it was almost expected. No lead more dangerous than a 1-0, and Chelsea were made to pay for that again, as we have been many times this season.

It’s the story of the whole season, really. Wasteful at one end, crucial mistake(s) at the other, and unable to recover from said mistakes in the end. And so it was again today, even with five extra minutes to play.

Chelsea huffed and Chelsea puffed and missed a few more chances (and Kanté made a goal-saving tackle at the other end) and then it was the referee’s whistle to bring another sad end to proceedings at Stamford Bridge. No Diego Costa to win it at the end this time, unlike last year.

Next up: FA Cup semifinal dress rehearsal against Southampton on Saturday.

KTBFFH.
