Just a month into his four-month loan at Borussia Dortmund, much ink (real and virtual) has been spilled about Michy Batshuayi’s future, his prospects at Chelsea, options at BVB, and perhaps interest from other corners of Europe as well.
We hadn’t heard much from the man himself (beyond his usual Twitter excellence), but he’s remedied that now. As expected, he’s largely saying the things players in his situation usually say: he’s concentrating on the present task at hand, not worrying about the future, and letting the clubs and agents sort out his next move.
“Right now, I only think about football and not the future. In the end, it will always be a decision the clubs have to make. We have our goals in the Bundesliga and Europa League here at the club, and once the season’s over my goal is to take part in the World Cup with Belgium.
“To think about that pretty relevant issue [what happens in the summer] right now would block my mind. I must focus on our next games, because we are in an incredibly important phase for Dortmund.”
Batshuayi started his Dortmund career on fire, scoring 5 goals in his first 3 games, but has hit a bit of a rough patch lately, scoring 0 goals in his last 3 appearances. There have been suggestions that Batshuayi’s downturn in form might be because of his lack of game time at Chelsea — i.e. match fitness — but the Batsman isn’t looking to hide behind excuses. Good attitude indeed!
“That might even be true in part, but I would not allow it an excuse, I am rarely injured. I need to be professional, rest, look after myself and sleep a lot.”

Michy will be looking to end his mini-drought later today as BVB take on RB Leipzig in Bundesliga action (17:30 GMT).
