Pedro: Chelsea are ready to fight until the end of the season

After providing Chelsea with the winner against Leicester City, Pedro sat down with the official website and had a chat about various things, such as the FA Cup and the current atmosphere in the team, specifically going into detail about his decisive goal and what lies ahead for the club. In general, the Spaniard's interview is full of positivity and encouraging words.

“I don’t remember the last time I scored with my head! But I’m very happy to score the goal and for the team to get the win.”

“It’s great to pass through into the next round and it’s very important for us to get the confidence and to fight from now until the end of the season. We want to get into the top four and we also want to win [the FA Cup], so we will fight until the end.”

“For me, it’s very good if we can win this trophy. I haven’t done this in my career and it’s something I want to win with Chelsea, it’s a target for me and my team-mates. It’s a very good competition in England with a lot of history.”

I think I speak for everyone here when I say that it's not important how you score them, Pedrito! Just keep on doing so, preferably already against our next opponents Tottenham on April 1st.

Focusing on the FA Cup in addition to getting into the top 4 is naturally an aim that most of the team will have set themselves for the rest of the season and it's great to hear from the little Spaniard how much he enjoyed progressing to the next round! Generally, the Leicester game illustrated that there's still quite a bit of confidence in the team and this is emphasised by the winger.

“Now is a good moment because of this win and there is a good atmosphere in the changing room.”

“We have the international break now, so hopefully we can recover a few players that aren’t with their national teams and then come back and prepare well for Spurs. It’s very important for us to try and get the three points against them.”

Pedro also had a few words to say about his fellow Spaniard and attacking partner Álvaro Morata, who was recently snubbed by Spain coach Julen Lopetegui for upcoming friendly games against Germany and Argentina. Nowadays, Álvaro seems to have become a recurring subject during his teammates' interviews as Pedrito isn't the first and most presumably won't be the last to mention the striker.

“I’m very happy for Álvaro to score again and hopefully that will give him the confidence to score more. Álvaro is a very good player and an important part of our team. It’s important for him to score and to help the side and hopefully he can continue to do that until the end of the season.”

“He had a back injury but now he’s in a very good condition and it’s a good time for him. I think his back is perfect now and hopefully he can keep scoring, because we all know just how good he is.”

While it's highly debatable whether or not Morata's poor run of form was solely down to his back issues, Pedro speaks the truth when he says that the former's goal against Leicester last weekend can only help confidence-wise. This has become even more imperative as him being left out of the Spain squad will not have done him any favours in regard to his self-belief.

Let's just hope that Pedro ends up being right and Chelsea end the season with a bang, especially in regard to Morata picking up where he left off back in November!
