Yesterday we had rather bad news with regards to youngster Ethan Ampadu whom according to several sources, will miss the rest of the season due to a fractured ankle in an injury picked up during Chelsea’s U19 meeting with Real Madrid in the UEFA Youth League last week. Gladly there are some good news to counter the bad feelings stemming from Ampadu’s affair as according to the Telegraph, midfielder Ross Barkley is set to return to full training after recovering from a hamstring issue.
Barkley had already missed the first half of the 2017-18 season with a hamstring injury that demanded surgical intervention but thankfully his latest issue did not require such extreme measures. Still he was out of contention for almost two months, missing the squad selection for games from early February until now.
Although his first three appearances with Chelsea were not too impressive, there is hope in the club’s camp that he will still be an important player for the future. But the sooner he gets to prove his worth, the better as he could play an important role in the set of games that will decide our fate for next season — perhaps including whether or not manager Antonio Conte stays at the Bridge by the end of the term.
