Silly season never sleeps and in all its glory, it has bestowed another gift upon us. Borussia Dortmund will have to pay £53 million, if they wish to acquire Batshuayi permanently from Chelsea in the coming summer. At least, that’s what the Bild are claiming, according to the translation provided by the ever reliable, Daily Mail.
To say that Michy Batshuayi’s loan to Borussia Dortmund has been successful would be an understatement. Since being loaned to Dortmund at the end of January, the 24-year-old forward has gone on to score seven goals and grab one assist.

After such performances, it’s no wonder that Dortmund would want to make the loan move permanent and their marquee player, Marco Reus, has spoken in favour of this as well.
“I would be very happy if Michy stays. He showed how important he can be for us. I hope we finish the season in a Champions League place.”

Obviously, what Borussia and its players want matters very little as Chelsea holds all the cards. The loan move, thankfully, doesn’t have a buy option and Batshuayi himself hasn’t shown any intention of wanting to leave Chelsea either.

For now, however, all we can do is wait and watch the story unfold as silly season draws near...
