Manchester United 2-1 Chelsea, Premier League: Post-match reaction

Chelsea lose a Premier League game after taking the lead for the first time all season. Unfortunate timing, not to mention place to do it.

The game was there for the taking, but Chelsea failed to take advantage of a very good first-half. United grew into the game and got their inevitable second-half winner.

Chelsea fall out of the top four and it doesn’t get any easier with next weekend’s trip back to Manchester, this time to face Manchester City. The other three teams vying for the top four all have easily winnable games.

This isn’t going to look good for a while.

  • Willian scores his 12th goal in all competitions of the season, tying his career high. Hazard with the assist. Things looked good at that time, as they did for most of the first half.
  • Chelsea did get an equalizer, but it was flagged for offsides. At best, it was level.
  • How many fouls did Matić get away with?
  • How useless was Atkinson?
  • Sigh.
  • Next up: Manchester City away, next Sunday.
