Willian up for two — two! — UEFA awards this week

Vote now, the poll closes Friday 11 AM GMT

The Barcelona fans who run UEFA-lona UEFA must be taking a day off after celebrating Wednesday’s emotional comeback in the Champions League against the Blues.

Free from the oppressive regime that — obviously, we can all see it, amiright? — seeks to destroy everything Chelsea, UEFA’s underlings are bravely and sagaciously giving us the chance to honor Willian for his brilliant play at Stamford Bridge.

The Man of the Match is up for not one but two (two!) weekly UEFA awards. The first is for his 62nd minute goal — the one that was probably meant to hit the crossbar after hitting both posts in the first-half, but Willian had other ideas.

The choice is obvious, of course.

In a fit of generosity, the grand poobahs of European football governance have also decided to nominate Willian for Player of the Week.

Others, including the always-awesome N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard (especially once unleashed on the wing) also had excellent matches. But Willian was everywhere and doing everything, including scaring the shorts off of Marc-André ter Stegen.

His competition is David de Gea (OK, fair enough, he made boring football pay off for Mourinho,) Fred (him again?) and Thomas Müller (how can you have a Player of the Week from a 5-0 walkover?)

Yeah, there’s a catch. Hey, it’s UEFA, there’s always a catch. You have to register to vote, but Big Brother’s already watching you anyway. At least there’s a reward this time. It’s spelled WILLIAN!
