Eden Hazard made an appearance on French TV this weekend, and while his interview was mostly the standard affair with all the usual quotes about his own future and the never-ending transfer rumors, he did also give head coach Antonio Conte his full-throated support ahead of Tuesday night’s epic match against Barcelona.

“We win together, we lose together.

“Everyone is behind him (Conte). All we want is to climb the table - and give everything against Barcelona.”

Hazard’s words about a unified Chelsea were backed up by images from Monday’s open training, which is a UEFA-mandated event. While most coaches and teams will schedule some light and fun activities for this segment — this won’t be the time to work on secret tactics! — the Chelsea squad were clearly enjoying themselves, with plenty of laughter and other shenanigans.

Here’s video of the full 15-minute session.

There was further good news as Ross Barkley and Marcos Alonso joined training after recent injuries, but Chelsea will remain without the physical presence of Tiémoué Bakayoko and his mystery injury. (David Luiz will also not be available as an emergency midfielder due to his own undisclosed ailment.)

Given the recent rumblings of discontent, not to mention the less than stellar results on the pitch, Chelsea are saying all the right things and showing all the right attitudes. With most key players well rested thanks to the heavy rotation this past weekend in the FA Cup, and Barcelona having fielded a full strength team on Saturday away to difficult Eibar and now traveling to London without Cup-tied Coutinho, could it be that a united and fresh Chelsea have a slight edge over the illustrious Spanish giants?

Make it so.
