Chelsea 4-0 Hull City, Player Ratings: Willian, Giroud make case for Barcelona starts

1. WILLIAN 9.5

Minutes: 90
Touches: 68
Shots: 2**/4
Passes: 30/41
Take-ons: 6/6
Tackles: 3

Back from an injury that took him out for an unconscionable two (2!) whole games and limited him in a third, Chelsea’s ever-present (either as a starter or as a substitute) Willian continued his good form as he repeatedly knifed through Hull defenders, scored a brace and got unlucky to not complete the hat-trick. In double-digit goals for the season for the third year running, Willian might just set a new career high in that regard. Not bad timing as he enters a crucial summer in terms of his future, with two years left on his contract and turning 30 in August. He might not start against Barcelona (or should he?), but he will certainly look to make an impact off the bench if nothing else.

2. WILLY CABALLERO 8.7

Minutes: 90
Touches: 40
Saves: 5
Passes: 23/28

Willy C continues to be an excellent backup and is an animal on penalties. If we end up getting into a shootout in the Champions League, we might seriously consider subbing him in for it. Also handy with the feet, which is helpful under pressure.

3. WILLIVIER GIROUD 8.3

Minutes: 68
Touches: 30
Shots: 1*/3
Passes: 15**/17

Three games, three top threes in the player ratings for the former Arsenal man. ‘Nuff said; and it certainly wouldn’t be surprising to see him start against Barcelona on Tuesday as well.
