After a shaky start to both halves, Chelsea settled down and made their quality count, collecting all three points against bottom-of-the-table West Brom. No manager sacking today! (Hopefully.)
Three goals, clean sheet. Hazard brace. Carefree.
With the win, Chelsea move back into the top four, one point ahead of Spurs (5th), one point behind Liverpool (3rd) and just three points behind Manchester United (2nd). Manchester City, of course, have basically already won the league, so that’s not a possible concern anymore.
Chelsea now switch gears with FA Cup (Friday vs. Hull City) and Champions League (Tuesday vs. Barcelona) action coming up. A good way to start this crucial run of matches today.
- Eden Hazard reaches double-digit league goals for the fourth time in his six seasons at Chelsea. The second goal gives him 15 in all competitions, just 4 less than his career high set in 2014-15.
- Nice to see Victor Moses back in the goals as well.
- Morata, Christensen, Willian the three subs used, with the first two replacing players seemingly carrying a few knocks. Giroud was certainly in the wars today while Christensen looked to be favoring a leg.
- Next up: Hull City in the FA Cup 5th round on Friday at the Bridge
