Chelsea goal-machine loanee Tammy Abraham named Championship Player of the Month for November

Goals and goals and more goals for the 21-year-old

After scoring six goals in four November games for Aston Villa, Tammy Abraham was unsurprisingly named Championship Player of the Month for November, beating out Norwich City’s Teemu Pukki (who scored five goals), Chelsea’s next FA Cup opponents Nottingham Forest’s Joe Lolley (who scored twice and added four assists), and Middlesbrough goalkeeper Darren Randolph who backstops the best defense in the division.

Tammy’s no stranger to winning individual awards at this level; he was Bristol City’s Player of the Season two seasons ago when he scored 26 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions (23 in 41 in the Championship).

After a slow-ish start this season, he now has 11 tallies in 14 games for Villa, including 7 in his last 4 appearances (boosted by that ridiculous 4-spot against Nottingham Forest).

Abraham’s doing so well that silly rumors of a Chelsea recall have been floated, but surely that’s a logistically impossible proposition that would leave most parties involved thoroughly aggrieved, incuding Villa, who’ve bet their season on Tammy, and Tammy himself, who decided to drop down a level for sustained minutes rather than scrap for crumbs at Chelsea.

Then again, with neither Morata nor Giroud managing to play well (let alone score) consistently, Tammy may have been able to grab a larger share than he might have anticipated. Maybe next year?

In any case, congrats on the away and keep it up!
