Ruben Loftus-Cheek may have 5 goals in 9 appearances this season, but he’s yet to start a Premier League match for Maurizio Sarri. He’s hoping that pattern will change today against Wolverhampton Wanderers as Chelsea contest a the first midweek Premier League round of the season.

“Every player has to be ready because there are a lot of games coming up. Maybe the manager will rotate the team a bit so everyone has to be prepared.”

Sarri has used only a league-low 19 players in the league this season, with 14 of them making 10+ appearances and 7 of them (Jorginho, Rudiger, Alonso, Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Kante, Kepa) playing in all 14 games (the latter four playing every single minute so far, even). However, with tonight’s match sandwiched between home ties against rivals Fulham and the unstoppable force known as Manchester City, rotation could be in order to keep the legs and motivations fresh.

“It is important we go into the Manchester City game with a win and a bit of confidence. We have been given a lift by getting wins in the last two matches, in the Europa League and against Fulham. They were both decent performances and we will take that to Wolves tonight. I’m sure it will be a really tough match so we have to be focused.”

Loftus-Cheek scored on Sunday to seal the win against Fulham. We’ll be expecting more of the same if he plays today.
