Chelsea 0-1 Leicester City, Player Ratings: Kepa good, the rest not so much

Community player ratings from Chelsea’s first loss of the season at Stamford Bridge

1. KEPA ARRIZBALAGA (7.5)

Minutes: 90
Touches: 29
Passes: 17/17
Saves: 2

Kepa’s fourth Man of the Match award this season as he becomes the second player after Eden Hazard with the most appearances in our top three. This is his 10th time (4 MoM, 4 second, 2 third places) and his rating certainly would’ve been higher if Chelsea had actually managed to score a goal at the other end. Arrizabalaga appears to have settled really, really, with — knock on proverbial wood — nary a concern about his play. For the world record amount Chelsea paid Bilbao, nothing less should be expected, but it’s still great to see him deliver on the prime and the transfer fee.

Here’s his biggest save of the weekend:

2. EDEN HAZARD (6.2)

Minutes: 90
Touches: 85
Passes: 40/50
Shots: 2/4
Take-ons: 6/8
Fouls drawn: 4
Tackles: 5+

To be sure, there’s a massive gap between first and second, though Hazard’s stats do make for some decent reading (5 tackles??!). The future 2018-19 player of the year gave one of the more positive interviews after the disappointing weekend, so hopefully he is indeed correct about the team responding the right way on Wednesday.

3. N’GOLO KANTÉ (5.9)

Minutes: 90
Touches: 82
Passes: 60/67
Take-ons: 2/3
Tackles+INTs+Blocks: 1+1+1
Aerial duels won: 3

Kanté just barely beats out David Luiz by one-hundredths for the honor of appearing in the top three despite a rather poor player rating.
