Lost Chelsea loanee Charly Musonda Jr set for Vitesse debut at long last

Almost forgotten!

Given all the hype that had surrounded him ever since arriving at Chelsea as a 15-year-old in 2012, it’s actually rather remarkable that Charly Musonda Jr has managed to completely fall off the radar over the past six months.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t because of anything positive happening on the pitch. The 22-year-old ex-wonderkid has been battling a knee injury since the very start of the season. A summer of uncertainty after yet another failed loan spell in the second-half of last season (this time at Celtic, under former Chelsea youth coach Brendan Rodgers) saw Musonda eventually join up with Chelsea B on the the final day of the transfer window after the possibility of sticking around Chelsea fell through. But just a few days into his loan spell at Vitesse, in a training ground friendly match, Charly suffered the knee injury that has kept him out ever since.

But now, having spent most of that time back at Cobham recovering, Musonda is set to make his Vitesse debut ... soon ... after the winter break, as reported by Goal, who add that all parties expect the loan to continue (or finally begin, in a sense) for the second-half of the season.

If Musonda can stay healthy and push for playing time, maybe we won’t forget about him again.
