Eight eligible first-team players have stayed behind at Cobham as Chelsea flew down to Hungary today ahead of Thursday’s Europa League match against Vidi FC.

In addition to the usual three who aren’t eligible (Drinkwater, Piazon, Green), the eight who stayed behind are either getting a bit of rest (Hazard, Kanté, Kepa, Azpilicueta, Rüdiger) or are injured (Gary Cahill, as confirmed by Sarri in his pre-match press conference) or both (Mateo Kovačić, who limped out of Saturday’s game with a leg injury) or are Victor Moses (the official line on him may be an injury, too).

In any case, that leaves 17 players from the usual first-team squad, which means that there is just room for a third goalkeeper (young Jamie Cumming, who’s been making these trips all season) and a new face with a familiar last name, George McEachran. The younger brother of Josh McEachran may not actually play, but it’s good to see him travel anyway.

The full squad, as per the keen eyes on @CarefreeYouth:

GOALKEEPERS: Caballero, Bułka, Cumming

DEFENDERS: Emerson, Zappacosta, Christensen, Ampadu, Alonso, David Luiz

MIDFIELDERS: Barkley, Loftus-Cheek, Fàbregas, Jorginho, McEachran

FORWARDS: Pedro, Willian, Hudson-Odoi, Morata, Giroud

Hopefully all the youngsters will get to play!
