Community player ratings as Chelsea vanquish 10-man PAOK in the Europa League

1. OLIVIER GIROUD (8.9)

Minutes: 73
Touches: 23
Passes: 10/11
Shots: 2**/4
Take-ons: 0/2
Aerial duels won: 2

Player ratings don’t often surprise, but this one was a bit unexpected given all the hype surrounding young Callum Hudson-Odoi, his start, his goal, his assist, and his future. Meanwhile, he’s old man Giroud, winning his third Man of the Match in a row (!) and still flexin’ on them at 32. Hubba x2.

2. CALLUM HUDSON-ODOI (8.7)

Minutes: 90
Touches: 73
Passes: 41*/44
Shots: 2*/5
Take-ons: 3/4
Tackles+Blocks: 1+2

Hopefully this is more of a hello than a goodbye.

3. RUBEN LOFTUS-CHEEK (8.1)

Minutes: 90
Touches: 79
Passes: 53/55
Shots: 2/2
Take-ons: 8/10
Fouls drawn: 2
Blocks: 2

RLC just edges out Cesc Fabregas for third place, meaning that two-assist Cesc remains the player with the second most appearances on the team without a single appearance on the player ratings podium so far — this was his 10th appearance, second to David Luiz’s 16 in this regard. That’s not to say Loftus-Cheek doesn’t deserve this spot. He was fantastic and led the team in take-ons, for example.
