Chelsea 4-0 PAOK, Europa League: Post-match reaction

An easy Thursday night for Chelsea, who started well, then got the man-advantage when Khacheridi was rightly sent off inside of 10 minutes, and the only question at that point was how many would Chelsea score.

The answer: four. A Giroud double, a first career senior goal for Hudson-Odoi, and Morata for the fun of it at the end. And were it not for some excellent saves from the acrobatic Paschalakis in the PAOK goal, it could’ve been a lot more. Loftus-Cheek certainly came withing a few fingertips of a goal or two, for example.

So, not the greatest opposition and down to 10 men as well, but a solid effort from the Blues, with good mentality and positive football. All the youngsters showed well and that will bring a smile to all.

KTBFFH!

  • Ten changes for Chelsea from the weekend, with Kepa the only player to keep his spot. Two changes from the last Europa League match, against BATE in Belarus, with Fabregas replacing Jorginho and Hudson-Odoi replacing Hazard. A full rotation to the B-team then.
  • Ampadu plays right back for the first time, his third different position, replacing Zappacosta on the hour-mark. Standard swaps of Morata for Giroud and Willian for Pedro completed the subs.
  • Almost 30 shots, with at least 10 on target for Chelsea.
  • Next up: Fulham on Sunday.
  • Carefree.
