LIVE BLOG

90+4min: Full time.

87min: Pedro goes close with a snapshot. Game’s been over for some time.

85min: Giroud gets a consolation goal. Spurs 3-1 Chelsea.

79min: Hazard lands awkwardly, jarring his right leg. An injury to him is all that’s needed now...

76min: Giroud makes an appearance. Willian off.

72min: Jorginho gets a yellow for raking Dele’s Achilles. Well-earned, that one.

70min: Dele’s turn to miss on the counter. Chelsea open at the back as we press in vain.

68min: Kane misses a glorious chance as Spurs counter. At the other end, Pedro dallies on the ball in the area and a good chance is gone.

64min: Barkley swings in a tremendous flat cross that just eludes both Alonso and Kanté.

63min: Dier takes out Barkley, but the free kick goes to waster. Pedro wins the ball back however as Chelsea search for a consolation goal.

59min: A bit of a flashpoint between Dele and Jorginho as tempers start to fray.

58min: Double change from Sarri as Barkley and Pedro replace Kovačić and Morata. Hazard moves central — false 9?

55min: Spurs counter and Son burns Jorginho for pace easily. David Luiz goes for the tackle instead of the contain and Son slots in Spurs’ third. Spurs 3-0 Chelsea.

53min: Nice build-up from Chelsea gets Alonso into a crossing position, but Willian’s effort is deflected over. Willian take the corner, then a second one, then Spurs clear.

51min: Morata taken out by Foyth on the counter (no yellow?); Willian takes the free kick and Alonso loops around the back to head back in, but Kovačić’s volley is well over. Needed it to drop further, but there was no time.

48min: Willian finds Kanté but his cutback is in-between Morata and Hazard and a good chance goes begging.

46min: And we’re back underway. Massive comeback needed. Willian’s almost in over the top, but the ball runs just a bit too long.

HALF-TIME: Spurs played Chelsea off the park for the first 20-25 minutes, then were happy enough to let Chelsea pass it around. As if Chelsea’s own shortcomings weren’t enough, Martin Atkinson has let two fouls go on Hazard inside the penalty area, then booked Hazard for good measure at the end. Chelsea have been second best, but any of those decisions change the half (including the fact that Spurs’ first goal came from a free kick that was not a foul).

45+2min: Atkinson puts the bow on a magnificent first-half individual performance by booking Hazard for an aerial duel. Half time.

45min: Atkinson once again ignores a foul on Hazard that’s a foul anywhere else on the pitch. At the other end, Kepa’s brilliance keeps Chelsea in the game, sort of.

43min: Chelsea maintain some possession, but Lloris catches Kanté’s cross. Spurs looking comfortable.

40min: Alonso cuts out a Kane cross for Son as Chelsea try to maintain control, while Spurs remain happy to sit back and look for counters.

38min: Hazard has a pop from distance, facing three defenders, Lloris parries for a corner.

35min: The match is threatening to slow down a bit, and it gets a bit more chippy and less fluid. Morata latest to get called for a foul.

31min: Hazard intercepts and goes at goal, but his shot is blocked. Kovačić then tries a rabona cross, but instead it’s Spurs who counter through Son. David Luiz and Rüdiger force him into a long curler, which goes high and wide.

29min: Morata offside. Drink! At the other end, Kane wins a corner for Spurs. Spurs go short and Chelsea fall asleep on Eriksen. Kepa saves the header and Foyth’s overhead flick is just wide on the rebound. Letoff.

26min: Chelsea finally pass the ball around a bit and there’s a chance for Morata to finish off a Willian cross, but he does not. Offside anyway.

23min: David Luiz stays down after a midair collision with Dele in the process of a clearance. Looks okay to carry on.

19min: Rüdiger gets a yellow for a random foul out wide on Kane.

18min: Kepa saves Kane’s latest header, but Kane’s offside anyway. Another counter from Spurs to create that chance.

16min: Kane takes a shot from 20 yards, and it goes in. Far too easy, that one. Spurs 2-0 Chelsea.

14min: Foyth fouls Hazard in the area, but Atkinson is unmoved.

13min: Big save from Kepa as Spurs counter after an uncalled foul on Alonso. Son goes for the nutmeg, but this isn’t Courtois.

12min: Decent counter through Hazard and Morata eventually sees a cross from Azpilicueta, Foyth clears with an excellent header.

10min: Son goes close as Spurs destroy Chelsea’s right side.

8min: Nonsense foul given as Kane falls over in the vicinity of David Luiz. Eriksen swings in a cross, Dele gets his head to it, and flicks it past Kepa. Oof. Spurs 1-0 Chelsea.

5min: Decent chance for Morata from a Willian cross as Chelsea string a couple passes together, but he doesn’t make good contact and it goes wide.

4min: Big save from Kepa as Spurs keep the pressure on and Aurier swings in a cross for Kane. Chelsea rocking.

3min: Chelsea give the ball away again, but Kepa gets to the ball over the top before Dele.

2min: Poor goal kick from Kepa gives Spurs a good chance, but Aurier is offside.

KICK-OFF: Spurs get us underway and win a corner 20 seconds in. And then another 10 seconds later. And then Dier heads over.

It’s fourth versus third, and as things stand, three points here could make a big difference to either team. Manchester City are of course taking care of business at West Ham (who are incapable of finishing a chance despite creating almost as many as City), but Liverpool are being held in Watford and that means second place could be up for grabs for Chelsea. Never mind, they just took the lead.

In any case, there there should not be any issues with motivation and focus today.

Here we go.
