Chelsea end the first third of the 2018-19 Premier League season with a home test against in-form Everton, who have won four out of their last five and were on the receiving end of a terrible penalty decision in the one loss they did suffer against Manchester United. With or without Richarlison, the Toffees will surely be confident enough as they come to Stamford Bridge, where they have not won in the league since November 1994 — on the opening day of the North Stand (now Matthew Harding Stand)!
It’s been an unexpectedly good start to the season for Chelsea. At worst, we’ll be five points off the lead — but we could also be top, depending on how Manchester City do against Manchester United! — and possibly unbeaten in 18 competitive fixtures.
But to ensure that, Chelsea will have to play better than on Thursday, better than last weekend, and better than the Wednesday before then. Away to Burnley two weeks ago was more like the Sarrismo we’d want to see!
With no major injury or suspension issues, and only minor fitness concerns to deal with, there is no reason not to do so.
