Community Player Ratings from Chelsea’s excellent win at St Mary’s, which moves the Blues into second place in the Premier League.

1. EDEN HAZARD (9.1)

Minutes: 90
Touches: 99
Passes: 63*/74
Shots: 1*/5
Take-ons: 1/6
Fouls drawn: 3
Aerial duels: 2

Hazard capped off a brilliant first fifth of the season with a goal and an assist, his 7th and 3rd of in the league, good enough for best and second best over the Premier League’s first eight matches. He leads the league in total “dribbles” (22/39) and has the best per-90 average among all players with at least 180 minutes of match action. He’s second in fouls drawn with 21, two ahead of Pogba and three behind James Maddison. We can safely assume that at least another 21 have gone uncalled. And perhaps most tellingly, he’s ninth in the entire Premier League in total shots taken with 23 — by far the best on Chelsea, well ahead of Alonso’s 16 in second — in another solid start in that department akin to his play in the early days of Conte. If Hazard can keep this up for the rest of the season, we could end up witnessing something truly great and historic.

2. KEPA ARRIZABALAGA (8.7)

Minutes: 90
Touches: 41
Passes: 28/32
Saves: 6

Arrizabalaga’s starting to show his worth over the past few matches. In fact, over the past five games, he and Hazard have been trading off for the Man of the Match award. It was particularly heartening to see Kepa make two excellent saves in situations similar to the one in which Danny Sturridge scored the late equalizer for Liverpool. He may not have done much wrong on Danny’s goal, but he still appears to have learned from it already.

3. ROSS BARKLEY (8.5)

Minutes: 80
Touches: 68
Passes: 47*/50
Shots: 1*/3
Take-ons: 0/1
Fouls drawn: 5
Tackles: 2

As much as Hazard continues to impress at an 8+ overall ratings-pace, which would be a record in the history of this exercise, Barkley was the man of the hour after Sunday’s win. This may have been his first Premier League start since mid-August, but he’s failed to make an appearance in just one match all season, a feat matched only by Azpilicueta and Morata and they play in positions with far less competition for places. (Willian remains the only player to have played in every single match in every single competition so far, 12-of-12.)
