It’s a sad day for football after Leicester City confirmed last night that club Chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha was among those who lost their lives in the helicopter crash following the conclusion of Leicester’s match against West Ham. BT Sport’s cameras were still rolling as the helicopter took off from the pitch, as it does after every home game. None of the five people on-board, including the two pilots, survived.

May they all rest in peace.
Kasper Schmeichel’s statement is hard to read with dry eyes.

For us Chelsea fans, it’s also horrid reminder of almost exactly 22 years ago, when Chelsea Vice-chairman Matthew Harding’s helicopter crashed on the way home from a League Cup match at Bolton on October 22, 1996. All five on-board that stormy night perished as well.
It’s times like these that remind us that football is the most important of the least important things in life.
Hug your loved ones.
