Things were looking pretty good for almost an hour, as Chelsea were in full control if not quite at their incisive best. But then, a moment lax control, a scramble in the defensive third, bodies and shots everywhere, and eventually the ball bounced to Martial, who canceled out Rüdiger’s first-half opener.
Chelsea then regained control, but United were always going to be dangerous on the counter and, sure enough, there was Martial once again to stake United into the lead.
And then it was time for United to do what Mourinho does best, and see out the game.
So Sarri’s Chelsea lose for the first time in twelve games. That’s the difference not finishing chances vs. finishing chances.
AND THEN ROSS BARKLEY EQUALIZES AT THE DEATH. STILL UNBEATEN!
We knew that improvements will be required. And so they are.
KTBFFH.
- Two changes from the last game, with Kovaćić coming in for Barkley and Morata getting the nod over Giroud. Standard changes from Sarri with Barkley for Kovačić, Pedro for Willian, and Giroud for Morata.
- Martial’s goal was the first goal Mourinho’s United had scored at the Bridge, in their fourth try. His second goal of the game meant that Chelsea ALMOST lost at the Bridge for the first time since 2011 after leading at half-time.
- Next up: Europa Leauge vs. BATE on Thursday.
- Carefree.
