Chelsea have not made it into the fourth round of this year’s FA Cup just yet thanks to Saturday’s insomnia-curing 0-0 draw at Carrow Road, but should the Blues progress past the Canaries in nine days’ time via the replay at Stamford Bridge, Conte’s men will get to take on Newcastle United.
Chelsea were one of the last balls out of the urn in what was thankfully a quickly and efficiently conducted draw.
The full draw for 4th round, conducted by Dennis Wise (home teams) and Rio Ferdinand (away teams), and held at former Chelsea Academy coach Adi Viveash’s fourth tier Coventry City, who scored one of the biggest upsets of the 3rd round by eliminating Stoke City (and finally costing Mark Hughes his job), is as follows.
Liverpool vs. West Bromwich Albion
Peterborough United vs. Fleetwood Town OR Leicester City
Huddersfield Town vs. Birmingham City
Notts County vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers OR Swansea City
Yeovil Town vs. Manchester United (nice draw by Rio there)
Carlisle United vs. Stevenage OR Reading
Cardiff City OR Mansfield Town vs. Manchester City
MK Dons vs. Coventry City
Millwall vs. Rochdale
Southampton vs. Watford
Middlesbrough vs. Brighton & Hove Albion OR Crystal Palace
AFC Bournemouth OR Wigan Athletic vs. Shrewsbury Town OR West Ham United
Hull City vs. Nottingham Forest
Newport County vs. Tottenham Hotspur
Norwich City OR Chelsea vs. Newcastle United
Sheffield United vs. Preston North End
Matches will be played the weekend of January 27th, so in between Chelsea’s League Cup semifinal second leg against Arsenal and a home league match against AFC Bournemouth. Chelsea of course have to make it past Norwich City first, and that match is set for Wednesday, January 17 (19:45 kick-off; BBC).
