Chelsea will look to avenge Wednesday’s dramatic 2-2 draw at the Emirates, as well as break our recent hoodoo against Arsenal, with another big occasion and another midweek cup game under the lights at the Bridge, though this time it’s just the League Cup as opposed to Champions League.
That said, Chelsea are in the semifinals of England’s secondary cup competition, 180 minutes away from the final, and a trophy is a trophy. Half of those minutes will be played on Wednesday, the other half in two weeks’ time (and three more games).
Conte has been employing a fairly strict rotation policy between league and cup commitments, but with the team coming off of weekend cup match, it might be time to switch that policy around, at least in the League Cup. Tellingly, all of Courtois, Hazard, Azpilicueta, Alonso, Christensen, Kanté, and Fàbregas were rested and out of the matchday squad against Norwich, which should provide a huge clue as far as their role against Arsenal will be concerned.
But this isn’t about whom Conte will pick. This is how you would choose, if you were the boss.
