According to transfermarkt.com, this will be the first time in his club career that Giroud will don the No. 18. For Arsenal, he wore the No. 12 shirt throughout his five-plus seasons at the club. Before his arrival in England, he wore No. 17 for Montpellier and No. 12 for Tours. On the international stage, he has frequently worn the traditional No. 9 for France.
Giroud joins an interesting group of players to wear the No. 18 for Chelsea that include Loic Remy, Romelu Lukaku, Wayne Bridge and Ricardo Quaresma.
