Charly Musonda Jr may not be playing much for the Chelsea first-team just yet, but he appears to be very much in demand on the loan market, with the Mail claiming that he’s “closing in” on a move to Celtic, where he’d join up with former Chelsea reserves coach Brendan Rodgers.

The Mail posits that it would be an 18-month loan, which could ideally give him the longer-term basis upon which he could develop and be a reliable option for his loan club. As we’ve seen in the cases of Andreas Christensen and Thibaut Courtois, the longer-term loans seem to be better arrangements for longer-term success, both for the player and both clubs involved as well.

Just yesterday, La Liga side Leganés were supposedly interested, after multiple Premier League sides were said to be tracking the 21-year-old as well. Chelsea would undoubtedly prefer a Premier League loan, but that may not be possible in the end.

For now, Musonda remains with the team, and is available for selection against Newcastle on Sunday, after which he may on his merry way.
