There’s not much time to reflect on or wallow in the latest draw against Arsenal — the fourth in four tries this season, if we include the Community Shield, which Chelsea went on to lose in a penalty kick shootout — as another game is coming up right quick. In fact, it’s only two full days’ or rest between Arsenal and Leicester City, though at least both are at home.
That certainly poses a conundrum, as Conte opted for a full-strength 3-5-2 on Wednesday (and rightly so; it was exactly what we had anticipated, predicted, and projected) and now has to select from a tired group of players. And with the Norwich replay coming up next week, he has to extend similar considerations to that game as well, which is likely to see a well-rotated squad once again.
So this game falls squarely between what was obviously a first-team contest and what will most likely be one for the backups and kids.
