After signing Chelsea defender Fankaty Dabo on loan for the upcoming season, the next loan addition at Vitesse from Chelsea was widely rumoured to be 2016-17 Academy Player of the Year, Mason Mount. Although it was unlikely that a deal would be agreed until the end of England’s participation in the Under-19 European Championship, which got underway yesterday.

While a deal for Mount may eventually come to fruition, it seems that Charlie Colkett, who turns 21 in September, will be the next player to be loaned out to the Dutch side.

Here he is with his characteristically slicked-back hair at Vitesse’s training center, Papendal, in Vitesse player Thulani Serero’s Instagram story.

It’s not unusual for Colkett to be training with Vitesse before completing his move; the exact same thing happened with Dabo. Vitesse have only just begun their pre-season preparations and the more time Colkett spends with his teammates-to-be, the better. Anyhow, the fact that Colkett is in Arnhem and wearing all the Vitesse training gear already suggests that formalities of the loan deal are being ironed out, and an official announcement should soon follow.
