It’s a good thing it’s just pre-season!
Chelsea lose for the second time this week after a performance that was at times better, at times worse than in the 3-2 defeat against Bayern Munich.
Chelsea certainly played a better first half this time, but an absolute joke of a penalty call changed that feeling at the end of the first half and Inter carved Chelsea apart multiple times on the counter in the second as the Blues pushed for a goal.
The pre-season tour is thus over and it’s back to Cobham. Work to be done.
- The call may have been a joke, but Chelsea’s serious lack of effort on the penalty to crash the net was just as disappointing. Several Inter players on hand unchallenged to score the rebound after Courtois saved it.
- Courtois could’ve done better on Inter’s second goal, but made several excellent saves throughout the game.
- Morata as left winger not too promising today. The new kid needs more conditioning and obviously to develop better understanding with his new teammates.
- Alonso, Kanté also looking a bit short of fitness still
- Batshuayi pretty good again, especially early and late. Had a goal wrongly disallowed for the second time in three games. (Linesman may have been flagging Moses offside.)
- Rüdiger makes pre-season debut as the right-sided center back, pushing Azpilicueta to right wing-back and Moses to left wing-back. That’s not an ideal situation for either.
- Boga, Musonda get 25 minutes to impress. Musonda lively.
- Even Cuevas gets a few minutes.
- Kondogbia’s own goal alone worth the price of admission.
