Two of the greatest midfielders England and the world has ever seen have received their own special Ultimate Team cards in FIFA 17. Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard both left Major League Soccer at the end of the 2016 season back in November and will likely never play competitively again. As part of EA’s “End of an Era” campaign that is aimed at honoring all of the great stars that are leaving the sport, Lampard and Gerrard are the latest to get one last hurrah in the video game world.

Players like Philip Lahm, Xabi Alonso, Francesco Totti, and Dirk Kuyt have already been the recipient of such cards.
Make no mistake about the fact that these two cards were released together. Lamps and Stevie G.’s careers will forever be linked together. As rivals on the Premier League scene they battled against one another on countless occasions. As teammates with the Three Lions, they constantly were at the center of debate. Two of that generation’s best midfielders for some reason failed to co-exist in a natural sense with England. One shined without the other and vice-versa, but never did they form the super-tandem many expect of them.
There’s always a chance that both players will be brought back to Ultimate Team in future editions of FIFA as new “Icon” cards (they are replacing what is currently known as “Legends”). However, due to rights issues and negotiating, that’s not always certain. This could possibly be the last time both are in a video game at the same time. So, grab them if you can and form that super-tandem in the virtual world.
Or juts get Lampard, because he’s the best.
