WATCH: 12 minutes of Alvaro Morata being better than Romelu Lukaku

A taste of what Chelsea are getting

It appears that the striker merry-go-round has finally stopped. After months of rumors and speculation, the club announced on Wednesday they have agreed to terms with Real Madrid for the permanent transfer of Alvaro Morata. While personal terms are still left to be dealt with, for all intents and purposes, Chelsea finally have their man.

With Diego Costa having one foot out the door and Romelu Lukaku spurning the Blues, it’s the Spanish international who winds up at Stamford Bridge. Despite the long transfer saga, it’s easy to tell from highlight videos (such as the one above), that Chelsea are getting a proven goalscorer. He’s done it in two of the top leagues in the world and will have a tremendous supporting cast alongside him providing service. This is now also the second time that he’s joining a Conte-led team; hopefully this time they will actually get to work together.

YouTube videos will have to hold us over until the 24-year-old joins up with the squad and makes his debut. Morata is big, powerful and doesn't lack pace either. His technical ability is superb for a striker of his mold. Obviously finishing will be the greatest determining factor of just how his time in London will be judged. Last season he notched 20 goals for Real Madrid in all competitions. For a player just entering his prime, that’s a good sign of things to come.
