After a perfectly useless season of a failed loan and multiple injuries, Charly Musonda Jr is in need of a better twelve months ahead. Whether that’s on loan again or with the first-team again, we’ll just have to wait and see (neither arrangement bore success last season), but Charly’s father did reveal recently that Chelsea were not looking to loan out the 20-year-old just yet.
Those quotes have now been corroborated by further reports, such as this one from DH, which claims that Musonda already had “good discussions” with Conte and that the Chelsea boss is looking to keep him around for next season and is ready to “give him a chance” in light of Chelsea’s expanded fixture list.

It should be noted that DH recently linked Musonda with Genk, too, which is something that Charly Sr thoroughly debunked not much later. And we haven’t even started pre-season, which is a good time for jobs to be won (e.g. Moses, Chalobah last year) or lost (e.g. Baba, Traore last year).
Still, it’s nice to hear that we’re at least willing to give him a chance — with Hazard’s injury, Charly could have a couple extra opportunities, even. Musonda has two years left on his contract, so perhaps an extension is in order as well?
