Pedro gives hope of an amicable resolution between Chelsea and Diego Costa

It’s been a bit quiet around Diego Costa over the past couple weeks, but his future still looks all but guaranteed to be away from Chelsea, probably on a short-term loan somewhere for six months before finally re-joining Atlético Madrid in January. Whether that will happen without further dramatic texting episodes or further conjured-up drama between Conte and Chelsea, remains to be seen.

Then again, if you’re overly nice teammate Pedro, you apparently still harbor hopes of an amicable resolution.

“We still don’t know what is going to happen with Diego Costa. He is always a plus for any team.”

“I have never seen anything strange between Conte and Diego Costa.”

Given that we once saw Conte and Costa remonstrating at each other during a match, I’d say Pedro’s glossing over a few facts, though that’s understandable given that he was talking with Cadena SER’s notorious rumor-mongers. (Wonder how Pedro would describe that one time Costa got angry with him and stopped to yell in his face during a game as well?) These things happen in the heightened, adrenaline-filled environment of sports.

Pedro may or may not have special insight into Costa’s situation, but I’m afraid we’re too far gone down this particular path for us to just hit the undo button and hug it out at this point. And with pre-season just around the corner, Chelsea will need to get a move on to sort out many things, including Costa’s near- and long-term future.
