New Chelsea Nike kit now for sale in Boston as well

Flouting official release dates and such formalities, a soccer shop in Boston has now become the second confirmed store in the United States to sell the new official Chelsea Nike shirts.

Here’s David Amoyal, whom we know mostly as the English voice of Gianluca Di Marzio, with the spot at the Brazilian Soccer House in East Boston.

Last week, a store in New York City put both the new home and away shirts out, mixing them with Spurs and Manchester City kits for an unholy and head-scratching combination. The kits are not supposed to be officially announced and unveiled until July 1st!

Amoyal’s picture does offer the best look at the new home shirt just yet. He proffers that it looks “sharp”, and it’s hard to argue with that given the elegant simplicity of the design (even with the raglan sleeves).

The slightly darker shade of blue, about which there’s been some general consternation, seems closer to Reflex Blue than a classic Royal Blue, though adidas tended to vary from year-to-year in the exact shading of the shirt as well, and Reflex Blue is what was outlined in the Chelsea design guidelines for the club’s centenary.
