The speculation surrounding Romelu Lukaku’s future at Everton has picked up pace this week, with his agent issuing a come-and-get-him plea to any potential suitors, and Manchester United supposedly switching targets from a no.10 to a no.9, from Griezmann to ... probably Lukaku.
The transfer rumours regarding the former Chelsea man are bound to continue long into the summer, or at least as long as he’s not signed by a new team, and it’s unlikely that we’ve heard the last from Mino Raiola this summer.
But for the time being, his international colleague Eden Hazard has had his say on the matter as well, in the same interview where he declared his unwavering intent to stay with Chelsea.
“He’s a great player, a great guy and a good friend but he will have to make his own choice. He’s still young, only 24 but every season he has scored a lot of goals in the Premier League and this shows hes a good striker because the Premier League is very tough.”
Of course Eden would be delighted to see his good friend rejoin Chelsea. He’s not a heartless monster! Of course, it’s not Eden’s call at all what Lukaku does or doesn’t do, or who the management will prioritize in the transfer market. It was a silly question, answered by an obvious answer.
“But it’s not my job to say we need him. The owner and manager are there to buy players. We will see.”

Lukaku’s possible return to Stamford Bridge will depend on many factors. Eden Hazard will not one of them.
