Date, time confirmed for Chelsea’s rematch against Arsenal in 2017-18 Community Shield

New season shall start the way the old one ended, though hopefully with a different winner.

More scheduling news this morning following yesterday’s release of the 2017-18 Premier League fixtures. The week prior all that’s set to begin, Chelsea and Arsenal will contest the glorified friendly known as the Community Shield, recently certified as a real trophy by none other than José Mourinho. If it’s good enough for the Special One’s Treble, it’s good enough for us, right?

In any case, the quest for the Cup Plate On Which To Hold Other Cups shall begin and end on Sunday, August 6, with kick-off scheduled for the unholy time of 2pm with BT Sports’ cameras in attendance. Has any match in history ever kicked off at 2pm? (Don’t answer that.)

This makes four confirmed preseason friendlies for Conte & Co, with half of them coming against Arsenal (one in Beijing in 37 days, the other at Wembley in 52) and the other two against Bayern Munich and Inter Milan in Singapore. Undoubtedly, there will be a few more added to the schedule between now and then.

For now, the confirmed friendlies are:

July 22: vs. Arsenal
July 25: vs. Bayern
July 29: vs. Inter
Aug. 6: vs. Arsenal

And then we’ll got at least four games without having to play Arsenal before facing them again on Matchday 5.
