Serbian, Croatian, Chelsea, West Ham, east, west, united in one aim: stop Spurs. World peace. No more diseases. All thanks to one text message.
After West Ham’s 1-0 win dealt a massive blow to Spurs’ title-challenge, Hammers boss Slaven Bilić revealed to Sport Klub that Chelsea midfielder and fellow Balkan export Nemanja Matić texted him prior to the match with an enticing offer.
“If you stop Tottenham, I’ll take you out to dinner."
West Ham had won but one match in their previous eleven tries.
Bilić and Matić may technically represent different countries and may champion the cause of traditional London rivals, but they will no doubt share a very happy meal whenever said dinner does come together.
“Matic is a wonderful guy, a great player. I will accept that [offer] with pleasure."

With pressure mounting on him at the end of a disappointing season, the win was almost as important for Bilić as for Matić. Hopefully they will both have something great to celebrate.
