Azpilicueta reveals added motivation for Chelsea winning The Double

John Terry’s won The Double once already. Let’s make that twice.

One would suspect motivation isn’t in short supply in and around the Chelsea squad these days. The Blues look to close in on their second title in three years, and also have an FA Cup Final date with Arsenal once the regular season comes to a close.

Just in case, César “Dave” Azpilicueta has recently revealed a bit of additional motivation for the squad to clinch The Double, and it has to do with none other than John Terry, who is now undoubtedly at the closing stages of his Chelsea career.

"Obviously, we know that John is leaving. He is our captain and with all the things he has achieved in the club, he is a big part of the history.

"The best way for him to leave the team will be winning two trophies and him lifting them both up."

Terry’s time on the pitch has been limited to a large extent this season, but Antonio Conte has pointed out time and time again that the Captain’s influence off the pitch must not be overlooked as it is of utmost importance. It goes without saying that it would only be fitting for a club legend like JT, Mr. Chelsea himself to lift two cups at the end of his final season as a Chelsea player (in a full kit, no doubt!), and clearly the players feel the same way.
