Chelsea have sent over 40 players out on loans of varying lengths this season, but perhaps none have been as successful and made as much of an impact at their respective teams as Tammy Abraham has at Championship side Bristol City. Having scored over a third of their goals this season, Tammy helped save the Robins from relegation and in the process proving that he’s ready for top flight action at just age 19.
Whether that top flight action will be with Chelsea next season or with some other loan club either in England or abroad remains to be seen. Chelsea face several potentially big decisions in terms of player movement, especially at center forward if Diego Costa leaves, which could leave a window of opportunity for Abraham to make an impact already. Recent rumors have suggested that Antonio Conte wants to at least take a look at him in the upcoming preseason.
In light of all that, it would be surprising if Chelsea didn’t reward Tammy with a new contract this summer. Sure enough, here is ESPN’s Peter O’Rourke with just that news from “sources close to the player”.

Abraham has two years left on his current deal, the first professional contract he signed as a 17-year-old. Chelsea would no doubt like to avoid a repeat of even a hint of the Dominic Solanke situation, so giving Tammy a healthy wage rise and tying him to the club for a few more years is the logical and reasonable and proper thing to do.
