Although Marco van Ginkel missed the first half of the season due to a knee injury, his previous and current loan club, PSV Eindhoven remained patient and keen before taking the midfielder back on loan during the winter transfer window. Van Ginkel, who helped PSV to the Dutch title last season, rewarded this patience with good performances once again, scoring 7 goals and recording 2 assists over 14 league games as PSV qualified for next season’s Europa League with a third place finish.
However, Van Ginkel is set to play only one more game for PSV before his loan expires once again. And even though he has expressed his desire in leaving Chelsea in the past to join PSV permanently, right now, he does not know his future just yet.
"I do not quite know what my future looks like, but it will be clear in the coming days. Everything is negotiable, but I do not really think about it yet."
"We will have to wait for the coming period. There are several parties – myself, Chelsea, I do not know what they want"

One of the parties who’s made it clear exactly what they want is PSV director Marcel Brands, who’s expressed a clear desire to keep Van Ginkel either on loan again, or on a permanent transfer.
"We are keen to keep Marco at the club. Both a loan deal or a permanent move could be an option."
"We tried to bring him in on an 18-month loan deal in January, but Chelsea told us they wanted to re-evaluate his situation during the summer."

Once upon a time, Van Ginkel looked set to play a not insignificant role at Chelsea, but what proved to be the first of several injuries has derailed any such plans. Conte may want to take a look at him again this summer, but chances are MvG is on his way out again, and for good this time.
