Out of all the players on the pitch Saturday afternoon, not many would’ve expected that Nemanja Matic would score the goal that would leave everyone — including Kurt Zouma — mouths agape. But, that’s exactly what the Chelsea midfielder did. His left-footed thunderbolt from the heavens polished off a glorious day at Wembley by giving Chelsea that all-important two-goal cushion and crush Spurs’ will once and for all.
It’s one of the best goals the competition has seen in quite some time — and as some have put it, the best goal ever scored at “New” Wembley — but Matic revealed after the match that he doesn’t believe it’s even his personal best.
“I am happy for my goal, it was a great goal, but it’s not the best I’ve ever scored. I scored a harder one in a Benfica vs Porto derby… this is perhaps my second best ever!”

The goal he’s referring to is this volley from just on the edge of the box back in 2013 that was later nominated for FIFA’s Puskas (i.e. Goal of the Year) Award. (Which it probably would’ve won, were it not for Zlatan doing something remarkable even by his own lofty standards.)
MAMAMAMAMAMA MAMMA MIA MATICCCCCC! That commentary is amazing, too.
What say you? Do you agree with Matic’s own rankings? Which goal do you think is better?
Which Matic goal is better?
