As we saw on Cesc Fàbregas’s Instagram, at Wednesday’s training Chelsea had their second mini-World Cup of the last couple weeks, with Cesc’s own Team Spain defending their title from the first edition.
Chelsea TV even dedicated most of yesterday’s training ground report to it, which revealed that there were four teams of six each (five + goalkeeper), with Spain beating England in the semifinals comfortably, then taking care of business against Brazil in the rematch of the final from two weeks ago. Brazil had eliminated Team Europe in their semifinal.
As far as I can make out from the video, the teams were as follows:
TEAM SPAIN:
Fàbregas, Pedro, Azpilicueta, Alonso, Matić the Lonely, Honorary Spaniard Courtois
TEAM BRAZIL:
Costa, David Luiz, Willian, Kenedy, Moses(?), Eduardo
TEAM ENGLAND:
Terry, Cahill, Loftus-Cheek, Aina, Chalobah, goalkeeper from Academy (Collins?)
TEAM EUROPE:
Hazard, Aké, Batshuayi, Zouma, Kante, Begović
While Fàbregas is clearly enjoying himself in these things, we should note that both Spain teams included a certain César Azpilicueta, who’s been called the most competitive person in the squad by several teammates.
Either way, looks like plenty of fun to be had on the training ground as Chelsea start preparations for the massive FA Cup quarterfinal clash against Manchester United on Monday.
