Torres, who’s been back at boyhood club Atlético Madrid since January 2015, was on as a substitute against Deportivo La Coruña on Thursday when he suffered what Atléti were calling a “traumatic brain injury”.
PARTE MÉDICO@Torres sufre un traumatismo craneoencefálico. Fue trasladado al hospital para hacerle pruebas. Pasará la noche en observación.

As I understand it, it was a rather nasty-looking and nasty-sounding blow to the head — I have very little desire to look for a replay — and after being stabilized on the pitch, Torres was rushed to hospital. A statement later released by Atlético says that Torres is in a stable, conscious, and lucid condition and while no traumatic injuries were shown on the initial scans, will be kept overnight for observation and further tests tomorrow.
Fernando Torres has undergone a cranial and cervical CT that has ruled out any alteration or traumatic injuries for the red and white forward, after the strong blow to the head he suffered in the this Thursday’s match at Riazor.
Our player, who is stable, conscious and lucid, had to be rushed in an ambulance after being stabilized according to the usual protocol, before being admitted to La Coruña’s Modelo Hospital, where he will spend the night for observation.
