Confirming rumors that have been percolating recently about a summer tour of Singapore and China, Chelsea have announced the addition of two friendlies to the budding pre-season schedule.

Chelsea will be playing Bayern Munich on Tuesday, July 25 (this was already confirmed by Bayern the other day, but now both sides have done so) and Inter Milan on Saturday, July 29. Both matches will take place in Singapore’s National Stadium, with kick-off times of 8pm and 7:30pm local time (Singapore is 7 hours ahead of London in the summer).

Chelsea have never played in Singapore before, but there’s a big fanbase there who will no doubt be very happy to see the Blues in person.

“I am very happy we have our pre-season tour plans for next season in place. Travelling to Singapore will give us excellent facilities to play and train, and we will face strong opposition. This is all good for my team and will help us to prepare for the next season.”

“More importantly, I know Chelsea has millions of passionate fans in the region. I am looking forward to meeting them and I think we will play two exciting matches for them.”

There was already a friendly confirmed against Arsenal for July 22nd in Beijing, so that makes three confirmed matches for pre-season. Last summer, despite the international commitments of Euro 2016 and the Copa America, Chelsea played six friendlies (plus a seventh unofficial one against a local Austrian side) and went on two tours (a week or so each in Austria and the USA). We should expect a similar workload this summer, if perhaps a bit more even.
