Since bursting onto the scene in early October as the right wing-back we never knew we had, Victor Moses has settled into solid, if not quite as spectacular performances as he remains the undisputed starter on the right flank of the Chelsea midfield.
Perhaps that’s under-selling his impact a bit; other than a couple instances where it was suddenly painfully obvious that Moses is not a natural defender, his contributions have been so steady and have become expected to such a degree that he hardly warrants specific mention these days. He’s made the right wing-back position his and only his, and it’s hard to imagine anyone else playing there, certainly not from the current squad.
That he arrived at this stage of his career after multiple loan spells speaks of his dedication and determination, and willingness to work hard — qualities that no doubt had a big role in convincing Conte to give him a chance in the first-team.
“I’ve always wanted to play for this big club, it’s one of the best clubs in the world at the moment and I’m enjoying every single minute. I just want to keep on working hard and helping my team-mates out.”
Moses, whose last loan spell was at West Ham, the team we’re playing on Monday, is one of the few members of the current squad who were not here two years ago, and while he did win the Europa League back in 2013, nothing compares to the Premier League crown. It’s getting closer and closer!
“We’re not looking at the table at the moment, we still have 12 matches to play and we just need to take each game as it comes. We just want to stay grounded and win as many games as we can between now and the end of the season. We’re going to stay focused and keep working hard together as a team, as everyone can see we’re doing.”
