Historic rains and snows in NorCal these days, leading to scenes like these:

First time in the 48-year history of the Oroville Dam that the emergency "spillway" had to be used.  It's a spillway in name only; basically it's just the side of the hill underneath a slightly shorter section of the levee.  Pretty cool/scary.  Possible flooding downstream to follow.

HOW, SON??

BOSSSSSCHHHH:

I had to do this at 10:30pm.  Was not fun.  But now I know.  Pro-tip: use a funnel (or in my case a paper plate) to direct the water from the open filter into a bucket.  Avoids having to mop up/soak up with extra towels.  Turns out that one of those microfiber LCD cleaning cloths got sucked down the drain pipe.  That filter is nasssty though, if you're like me and haven't cleaned it in the eight years of owning your washing machine.
