After two non-televised rounds in this year’s FA Cup (at least in the UK), Chelsea’s fifth round tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers was chosen by BT Sport as one of their broadcast picks. So even if you’re not one of the 4000-strong traveling support, you’ll be able to watch live! The match is now set to take place on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at 5:30pm local time. Prime time!
Of course, with only eight games to choose from for five televised slots, the odds of Chelsea finally getting picked for broadcast were pretty great. Thanks to the somewhat peculiar draw (all “big” teams set to play away to lower league opposition), all ties probably offer some potentially compelling storyline or giant-killing.
My only complaint is neither BBC nor BT picking up Huddersfield Town, featuring Chelsea loanee Kasey Palmer and Izzy Brown vs. Manchester City.
