Yesterday's showing from Chelsea at Anfield against Liverpool was far from the best, especially when it came to passing the ball. With the Blues unable to handle Liverpool's pressing and clogging the passing lanes, the league leaders ended up with 68% pass completion and 38.1% ball retention according to Whoscored.
But in spite of these struggles, Chelsea still managed to earn a point against a Liverpool, pushing our lead in the Premier League title chase from eight points to nine in the process as well.
According to Nemanja Matić, that’s in part due to “preparing the game very well”. So while the team had a chance to win the match with a penalty kick taken by Diego Costa and saved by Simon Mignolet, Matic is still happy with the 1-1 draw on Tuesday.
And a bit sad.
"We knew they were going to try and put pressure on us from the beginning. We waited for our chance, we had some chances, we scored a goal."
"After the last 10 minutes we are sad because we had our chances to win. But Liverpool away is always difficult and we have to be happy with this point."

The mixed reaction mirrors Antonio Conte’s post-match words, as well as the reaction, in general, amongst the fans.
After all, every point earned just might make a big difference in the end.
